Objectives

This generation of young people is a generation of dreamers, who dare to dream big and question the status quo, passionate young people who want to make a difference. Though sometimes these young people lack skills and experience as well as belief in their abilities. This youth exchange was about empowerment of young people, supporting them in discovering their strengths and acquiring useful competencies and skills. We aimed to create project that sets an environment that supports and fosters youngsters' self development and the development of their ideas. We formed partnerships with organisations active in the youth field and together agreed on creating a project that gives a chance for young people to develop their competencies, gives them opportunity to take initiative and responsibility and supports them in their personal and professional development. Through research among our youth groups and discussion with our partners, we defined the issues and needs of young people as following: - Big dreams, but lack of skills and experience; - Struggle to transfer ideas into actions; - Generation that is often described as “anti-social” and lacking interpersonal skills; - Pressure of old social constructs (opinions and concepts from parents, teachers, society on what's good/bad, right/wrong, should/should not do etc.) and struggle to fit in; - Lack of confidence in own abilities; - Image of ‘perfect life’ created by social media distracts young people to recognise their own strengths. Together with partner organisations we wanted to address these issues and needs through creating the project that gives space and framework for development, explorations, trials, acquiring/sharing/practicing skills and competencies. We agreed to create a project where young people were about to figure out how to self-organise themselves, work in teams, organise events and many more. With common vision for EMPOWERMENT - skills, perspectives, resources, opportunities, motivation, sense of achievement - we set up a GOAL to foster inspired actions among youth. We agreed upon several objectives to reach the goal of this project: 1. bring 24 participants from 4 countries (from which at least 30 % of them will be with fewer opportunities) to main activity; 2. organise Advance Planning Visit together with youngsters from the target group, to come up with ideas and create a framework for main activity that supports youngsters development the most; 3. create environment and space where participants are eager to explore their capabilities, acquire new skills and share best practices among each other; 4. enhance skills and competencies useful in personal and professional life, mainly: entrepreneurial skills like planning and organising, project management, goal setting, problem solving, creativity, teamwork, leadership; 5. initiate public event market-festival for local community where participants will practice skills they developed like organisational and project management skills, as well as promote their own creations; 6. strengthen the international community of proactive youth and the collaboration between partner organisations; 7. ensure that the dissemination, follow up activities and evaluation of the project will happen. These objectives are linked with objectives of Erasmus+ in the field of youth in the following ways: - improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities; - to promote participation in democratic life in Europe and active citizenship; - promote intercultural dialogue in particular through increased learning mobility opportunities for young people, those active in youth work or youth organisations and youth leaders; - foster quality improvements in youth work, in particular through enhanced cooperation between organisations in the youth field and/or other stakeholders. By this project we aimed to contribute to the following youth goal - integrate and improve different forms of learning, equipping young people for the challenges of an ever-changing life in the 21st century.
