Objectives

NGO "Keep the Change" together with Liepāja Youth house and their yougsters talked about this time in our lives, COVID- 19 time. They don't know what happiness means or how to find it, they don't eat well, they have no plans, no structure for their daily life and for some of them - there is no meaning for anything. Most of them are lost, they feel lonely and instagram and facebook browsing doesn't help them, quite contrary - makes them feel sad that other people have super exciting lives, except them. After listening to all of this, we all together created a project - I HAVE A CHOICE. I have a choice to be happy - we worked on the 12 pillars of happiness and how to achieve them and how to implement them in daily life. We used discussions and group works to understand these 12 pillars and after that we practised our presentation skills to present to other groups what we came up with. These workshops helped to improve social and communication skills, working in groups with people from other cultures. I have a choice to be healthy (mentally and physically) - we worked all together to find out what our body daily needs to be healthy and to function at its best. What we put in our body (food and liquid), what excercises helps us. We had group works focusing on nutrition, alchohol consumption etc. main idea - to give the knowledge about what we need to eat to be healthy, how food affects our body (for example - too much sugar) and where do our food comes from. Our plan was to visit local farmers, but due to different restrictions in the country, we were unable to do it. I have a choice to have a good life. We had sessions about planning our lives. How to make SMART goals, how to use different tools, where to find information, where to find people who encourage us and motivates us.Plus, in pairs we talked about things that excites us, that makes us happy. We wrote them down and then in a bigger group we tried to come up with interesting suggestions for that persons future hobbies, future education or even professional life. We looked at some influencers on facebook and instagram and tried to imagine being one to answer these question - who do I want to be? What I want to do with my life? I have a choice to be responsible. How our choices affect me, people around me and the surrounding environment. More and more people want to know simple steps how to make less waste, how to protect our environment. With this youth exchange project we wanted to: 1. encourage youngsters to speak up about how they feel, acknowledge their feelings and work on their communication skills with others; 2. together with them create tools to be happier and healthier and how to achieve it (for example - create posters with helpful tips that we will share on social media) 3. learn how to do things in international groups, improve foreign language skills. 4. show what happens to your mind and body if you take care of it. we had daily meditation sessions, workouts, dancing sessions, walk in the nature.
