‘We are living in the biggest crisis our generation has endured so far’. That was the sentence one of our participants said when we are having an online APV for one our YE that was supposed to take place in April. The partners and other youngsters taking part in the APV agreed and we had an hours long discussion about the COVID-19 crisis and how every country in the world and its people were handling the situation so differently from each other. Why did people buy massively toilet papers around the globe? How come the fear was so intense while the numbers weren’t that shocking everywhere? Why some countries were pushing on using masks while others were doing exactly the opposite? Why was domestic violence raising? These and lot more questions were discussed. One of the other things we all also noticed was the role of the (social)media and how so many fake news was being spread. The abundance of the fake news being spread had lot of similarities with the hate campagna that was been carried out during the refugee crisis. Though the goals and intentions might have been different the method of spreading and manipulating news was same. One of the participants suggested that it would be great to do a YE in form of gamification about this situation in which we would see how young people would handle a pandemic if they were the one in the position of decision making, responsible for medical care and the ones managing media around it. Also, during this YE we would like to discuss media literacy and how you would ensure that the human rights are not violated in a such a crisis cause unfortunately during Covid-19 situation that did happen around the glove. As Spain and Italy both have been struck the hardest in EU we decided to choose one them and as our Spanish partner really wanted us to organize it there and had an amazing youth center ‘Centro Juvenil La Noria’ https://www.malaga.es/lanoria/ , we choose to do it in Spain. So, our idea is to organize an 8 day YE in Malaga Spain in which 32 youngsters & 8 youth leaders from Italy, Spain, Iceland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Poland & Netherlands in which the participants will take part in a youth exchange that will be a mix of sharing experiences, organizing non-formal activities like group discussions, presentation and a live simulation game in which they will manage a pandemic situation like Covid-19 from different aspect. The YE be will be divided into following phases Phase 1: How was the Covid-19 situation in their country and how the government, media & the medical sector handled it? Did they see how important the EU is especially in such a global crisis or they have an opposite experience Phase 2: What were the fake news around Covid -19 that were spread in their countries and how can recognize its fake news in other words how to find the sources of different news and postings. For another exercise hey will be divided in national teams and given different cases of various fake news about Covid -19 and they will have to find the source of it. Phase 3: The participants will be randomly divided into following 4 mixed groups:Medics, Media, Government & Economists Phase 4: The four groups will be given different challenges in three stages of the simulation: Stage 1: The out break Stage 2: The peak of pandemic Stage 3: Post pandemic All the groups will present their plans to each other and the stage can only be successfully closed when they all reach consensus. Phase 5: Celebration of life. All the groups will organize an end event in which they will share their findings and learned experiences with local people that will attend the end event. The aim of this youth exchange is to: To share experiences that we had during the Covid-19 outbreak To raise the awareness of the importance of youth participation in the decision-making process Encouraging young people to take part in decision making processes To foster peer-dialog about matters concerning youth participation in developing processes on local, national & international level To raise awareness and promote active citizenship To challenge and practice creative thinking To share knowledge, experiences, strategies, tools and ideas To acquire and transfer new methods of non-formal education One of our main goals is to improve the level of key competences to encourage the participants to become more active citizens of their home country and be more interested in EU democracy and understand what it means especially in such a global crisis. This all will be achieved with the help of peer-learning in an international dimension while promoting the cooperation between various countries within the of Erasmus+ program. In addition, a lot of attention will be paid on the equality and the inclusion of all our participants throughout the full program. In order to assure the highest quality possible, it is important for us to every participant feel like being included in the whole process.
