Objectives

By taking part in this ‘Youth United for Cultural Diversity’ Youth exchange, the participants learnt about the power of music to unite people no matter of their backgrounds or belonging, which helped them appreciate their differences and use them in their advantage. It gave them an opportunity to learn about different music traditions, songs and ways to express through music. Hence, they were able to create music in mixed groups for their final performances by combining different music styles and choreography. Such action helped them discover their talents, strengths and weaknesses and use them in practice for achieving mutual goal. In that sense, the participants increased various personal and social skills, such as their teamwork skills, leadership skills, empathy, responsibility, acceptance of differences, etc. in order to be able to cooperate with each other and deliver their performances as outputs of the project. The project’s objectives were the following: to enable intercultural dialogue between young people from different backgrounds and to strengthen respect for cultural diversity; to explore different perspectives in culture and to encourage exchange of different cultural experiences, habits and beliefs; to explore participants’ musical experiences while learning techniques to develop creatively; to encourage active youth involvement and to promote social inclusion through non formal education, music and performance; to raise awareness among people in the local community about the importance of embracing cultural diversity; to empower participants to become more active in their daily lives by inspiring them to use their talents qualitatively and usefully; to strengthen participant’s intercultural communication skills; to promote the Erasmus+ Programme, Youthpass certificate and non-formal learning.
