Together with the Tatra National Park, our Foundation has been implementing projects related to ecology and ecological volunteering for 4 years. Feedback after completed projects from both our partner organizations, TPN and the participants themselves is very good and we receive a lot of messages from young people about their willingness to take part in this type of activity. The desire to implement this project is the result of a series of meetings of a group of young people gathered around our organizations who, after completing project activities, want to get involved in a new project. In search of inspiration for the project, participants were guided not only by the experience of our organizations but also by the needs of local communities. One of them is the issue of global warming and climate change, recently seen in terms of an impending disaster. In addition, there is a whole range of threats related to the destruction of the environment by humans - degradation of the environment, destruction of ecosystem biodiversity, pollution of oceans, mass deforestation, extermination of endangered species, etc. For this reason, a group of young people decided to prepare a project that will contribute to educating them , as well as the environment in this topic and allowed to join the wider activities aimed at responding to emerging challenges and threats. The main goals we set ourselves as part of the project were: - increasing ecological awareness of young people; - undertaking measures to promote nature protection, pro-ecological behavior and ecological volunteering; - increasing the awareness of the local community of Poronin and the local communities from which participants come from the subject of ecology, climate and the effects of human activities in this area; - learning to use ecology as a tool to promote a healthy lifestyle and active participation of young people; - recording a film in which topics related to ecology and the possibilities of ordinary people for the environment will be raised; - development of outlines of educational activities directed at youth related to environmental protection. We also want to contribute to the increase of participants' awareness of possible actions on a larger scale, so that participation in the exchange is not the only element of activity for them, but only the beginning allowing them to acquire knowledge and tools needed to further instill appropriate attitudes in their environment . At the same time, by addressing project activities to people coming mostly from small towns and rural areas, we try to make it also include an inclusive aspect and take into account the needs of people with fewer opportunities. For this reason, we will try to ensure that the activities and exchange program we prepare meet their specific needs, primarily in the field of language and cultural education, team cooperation skills and self-presentation. For this reason, all project activities are prepared with a view to the greatest possible involvement of participants, which will allow them to be given both hard and soft competences in accordance with the principles of non-formal education, which will allow for more effective implantation of long-term trends. As part of the youth project, we will create: - room for participants' personal development through involvement at every stage of the project; - we will contribute to the increase of our language competences; - we will acquire new skills to cooperate with representatives of other cultures and nationalities. Through cooperation with our partner organization, we also want to be able to learn about each other's culture, customs, traditions and history. In addition to classes related to ecology and climate issues, both national groups will also prepare a cultural program that they will conduct for their peers. Thanks to this, we hope to break stereotypes rooted in the environments of small towns and rural areas, which are often harmful to representatives of other nations. It will also be an opportunity to present the benefits of participating in activities at international level, including under the Erasmus + program. In this respect, we would like to ensure above all: - promoting tolerance, respect for diversity and mutual understanding; - promoting intercultural dialogue; - promoting the Erasmus + program and voluntary service of TPN among the local community of Poronin and among young people. In addition, the joint implementation of the project with Jaunimo Ratas will be an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between our organizations and deepen good practices in joint operation, which - as we hope - will translate into further actions that we can take in the future.
