Objectives

We wanted to become more active citizens of our local community and show the possibilities of cooperation between local residents and us. The implementation of the project allowed us to gain new knowledge and skills in areas related to gardening and the use of green areas. It was also important for us to be able to exchange experiences and knowledge with colleagues from Slovakia who, like us, are interested in gardening and activities for the benefit of society. But not only that, our colleagues from Slovakia, just like us, come from difficult backgrounds. Thanks to joint cooperation, we were able to exchange experiences and learn about their ways of overcoming the difficulties they encountered when re-entering social and professional life. The goal we wanted to achieve during the implementation of this project was to expand professional skills related to gardening and improve social skills, in particular communication and teamwork. In order to achieve our main goal, we set specific goals that made it easier for us to achieve it: * gaining new knowledge and skills in the gardening profession - through practical work in the park, * organization of workshops on gardening and spatial planning, * stimulating civic activity, integration with the local community - organizing a picnic presenting the implementation of our joint project, * improving interpersonal, communication, language and social skills - thanks to joint evenings, cultural integration, language and exchange of experiences, * development of creativity and ingenuity - by creating a land development plan, * development of teamwork skills - thanks to the implementation of joint tasks in international groups. When planning our goals that we wanted to achieve, we were guided by the need that arose during our daily activities at the Centre. The implementation of our project allowed us to improve our competences and knowledge in the gardening profession, which in the future may result in better job offers. Through the project, we also wanted to actively participate in the life of the local community and encourage residents to get to know us better and participate in our projects. During the project, we exchanged experiences in an international group on topics related to gardening, but also social rehabilitation, learning and opportunities that we have after leaving the center. Above all, however, we wanted to gain experience in the implementation of international projects and permanently introduce into our lives the aspect of interest in European citizenship and international cooperation as well as active participation in the life of the local community and cooperation with colleagues from friendly schools.
