Objectives

We carried out this project to tackle the root causes of youth violent by active involvement of young people. The project focused on empowering youth to address the root causes of youth violent extremism rather than tackling its symptoms. We seeked to foster youth resilience by creating an environment where they can be responsible and take control of their own lives and actively participate in public life. The case of what so-called "Islamic State ISIS" had shown that economic factors and perceptions of social or political injustice have contributed to youth vulnerability to recruitment by violent extremist groups. Therefore, this training course was designed to equip youth workers with knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to provide youth at risk with alternative practical paths to achieve their legitimate aspirations and make their voices heard. It focused on empowering youth self and peer Advocacy to enable them to advocate for themselves and and bring about positive change in their lives and communities. They learnt how to challenge horizontal inequality (economic, socio-cultural and political inequality). Also, they learnt how to achieve economic self-sufficiency. We tackled building youth entrepreneurial competencies, basic management skills, and financial literacy to support young people in creating their own businesses or social enterprises to sustain themselves in self-employment and better selfesteem. The project objectives: 1. Fostering youth’s positive engagement in public life (economic, political and socio-cultural participation), 2. Building youth entrepreneurial competencies to promote self-employment. 3. Support professional development of youth workers in the field of P/CVE, including Digital & Media Literacy, critical thinking and effective & empathetic listening. 4.
