Objectives

Civic journalism is a dynamically developing type of journalism practiced in the public interest, most often by non-professional journalists. Its creation and development is related to the Internet, which allows anyone to publish materials and distribute them massively. Participants from Poland and Ukraine wanted to implement this project in order to gain competences and skills thanks to which they could learn to influence their local communities. They could broaden their educational and career development path. Participants not only learned the secrets of civic journalism, but also developed their sensitivity to local problems of citizens and civil rights. They can start or develop social work themselves, work in a third sector organization, and become translators. They learned the basic issues related to work in local governments, politics, also on the international arena. In the future, they will study journalism, law, political science and social services. They will be able to pursue their passions, raise funds for them, and start their activities in civic media or watchdog organizations. The participants also wanted to get to know people from a neighboring country better and work on strengthening European integration.
