Project summary

Youth experiencing crises, especially parallel ones, such as homelessness, violence, addiction or poverty are not treated as a separate group - they balance between the offer addressed to children or to adults. There is a systemic lack of specialized tools adapted to the age of the youth group, including psychosocial and emotional development. There is also a lack of solutions targeted at young people not covered by specialist assistance - usually the period of escalation of problems is the moment of applying for help. The development of online tools will facilitate the process of establishing contact with young people in crisis, which will turn into maximizing opportunities in terms of institutional / systemic assistance. Staff also have a limited field of acquiring knowledge and tools in relation to work with young people in parallel crises. The project, through its thematic scope, is innovative, in addition enables the creation of tools that have an impact on improvement the situation of teenagers and sending them high-quality work that takes into account the needs of the group. An important element of the activities is the promotion of accompanying activities and relationship work as well as give back the voice for young people by including them in giving opinions and consulting on project activities. Six European organizations got involved - from Italy, Slovenia, Poland, Greece, Romania and Portugal. Each partner is an expert in one problem area (violence, addiction, disability, poverty, homelessness, digitization). The inclusion of organizations operating in different cultural environments allows ensuring the universality of the results developed, which in turn will translate into the possibility of their implementation in different countries. The following will be created as part of the project: - blogs targeted at young people from young people, - online support platform, - a manual for specialists who works with youth, - a guide for practitioners working with young people. There will be 5 partner meetings, 4 local conferences, 1 international conference, 2 trainings for specialists.

Objectives

The aim of the project was to create support tools for a selected group of adolescents and young adults, who are often treated as elderly people and the tools addressed to them should differ and be adapted to psychosocial and emotional development. The activities were targeted at human resources working with young people in European countries in order to strengthen their competences An additional goal of the project was the exchange of knowledge and experiences between partner organizations, which were selected in a way that allows sharing knowledge and experience in various aspects of working with people in crisis. Through the implementation of the project, we wanted to draw attention to the specific needs of a group of young people in crisis as well as in parallel crises, to which the developed support is directed, and we also wanted to fill the gap in the support system, which does not distinguish this group from the group of adults. The lack of adapted tools is visible in the partner countries as well as in other European countries. The online platform with access in English and in the languages of the partner countries is a tool that fills this gap in the field of specialization of partner organizations.

Background

The idea of the project was to create support tools for young people in crisis and experiencing parallel crises (homelessness, addictions, violence, poverty) and specialists working with youth. During the implementation of the tasks, we emphasized the specificity of the target group, which is treated as adults in the support systems. The project focused on the needs and forms of support for youth and young adults. The developed tools are available on the website in the languages of all partner countries and in English. The work on the project involved organizations from 6 European countries (Poland, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Romania and Portugal) that specialize in various areas of work with young people in crisis (homelessness, addictions, disability, digitization, violence). Thanks to this cooperation, high-quality tools were created for cardholders working with youth, as well as materials for young people, which facilitate finding support in the partner countries. Targeting this target group is innovative in the support system because it is focused on their needs and is aligned with emotional and psychosocial development.
