The "This is the Rainbow" project arose from Mol'Youth's desire to raise awareness of this concern in society and their surroundings, and their desire to live in a fairer society where there was no discrimination against the communities existing in our country and throughout Europe. As such, Portugal is one of the eight European OECD countries where the homosexual community reports the highest level of discrimination, according to the findings of the "Society at a Glance 2019" report. Our country shares this list with Austria, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Slovenia, as revealed by the latest available statistical data from the year 2018. On average, one in three people from the LGBT, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite, Transgender or Transsexual community in Europe confesses to having felt discriminated against because of their sexual orientation and gender identity. The percentages of this prejudice range from 31% in Denmark to 50% in Lithuania, among the European OECD member countries. However, the perception of discrimination is higher among transgender individuals than among gay or lesbian individuals. Thus, with "This is the Rainbow" we intended to combat this discrimination and give the consortium countries a new perspective towards the LGBTQI+ community, because, although some of the countries are among the most "friendly" to this community, given the factors and measurements of studies, there are still very high numbers of discrimination. Regarding Portugal, it was elected the most gay friendly destination in the world (along with Sweden and Canada), according to the Spartacus International Gay Guide Index 2019. The goal of this project was to equip young people, youth workers, youth leaders with the relevant information about LGBTQI+, social inclusion and intercultural differences, which would enable them to implement quality measures in their local organizations that promote a better environment and thus promote full inclusion. Therefore, the participants in the course of this exchange were provided with: . Have a basic understanding of common terms used and related to the topic of LGBTQI+; . Be able to talk about LGBTQI + issues with confidence and without fear of reprisal; . Have a basic understanding of LGBTQI + realities, including different dimensions across the concepts of gender, sex, and sexuality; . Acquire more self-awareness about their own gender, sex and sexuality and be able to relate to these issues on a personal level; . Have a basic understanding of social identity and intersectionality, with a focus on gender, sex, and sexuality; . Have the ability and confidence to reproduce the knowledge gained during the youth exchange; . Be motivated and able to actively use the information as part of their own learning and in their activities; . Have a set of best practices and practical tools aimed at creating more inclusion in the partner organizations' events and during their activities, especially when it comes to the topics of gender, sex and sexuality; . Have knowledge of different ways in which they can create synergies with LGBTQI+ Stakeholders at the local level; . Know the methods and tools that they can bring to their local communities in to promote inclusive intercultural activities. The objectives were in line with the themes that the consortium of project organizations intended to develop throughout the year 2020 and were in line with the guidelines of the Erasmus+ National Agency where it is intended to create a fairer society where all communities can live together in a healthy attitude. The objectives of the project were in communion with the priorities of the National Agency and Erasmus+ related to social integration where we intend that no community feels excluded. In this way we intended to: . Improve the level of key competences and skills of young people; . Complement at local, regional and national level, and support the development of knowledge and youth policy based on the knowledge and recognition of non-formal and informal learning, including through enhanced policy cooperation, better use of Union transparency and recognition tools and the dissemination of good practices; . To increase the international dimension of youth activities and the role of youth workers and youth organizations; . To support the development of support systems for young people by enhancing professional resources in the youth field; . To promote social inclusion at all levels; With the "This is the Rainbow" project we provide young people with different opportunities that, for reasons related to their social and economic condition, life events and other issues, would not have been possible.
