Objectives

If we have a quick look at various statistics about the world's wellbeing or present status we will find some disturbing numbers regarding the inequalities, injustices, abuses, human and environmental damages and victims etc.. Most of them seem to be based on how we are living our lives and how we allow others to live their lives. Our lifestyles as individuals and as societies are not in harmony with the life of our host, planet Earth, which leads to many negative consequences. "Be the Change vol II" was a project created to promote and encourage a global spirit in the context of the huge need in the world for a positive change. The project followed the idea to grow concern for how the world is at the moment, to bring along sustainable changes and educate youngsters how to become global citizens through non-formal education and learning support measures. For 8 workdays 28 youngsters and 7 youth leaders from Portugal, Spain, Greece, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Estonia gathered, creating a space for exchanging experiences, inspiration and promote awareness in the global issues that we are dealing in our present life. The specific objectives of the project were: - Raise awareness and empower youngsters to act as global citizens in their own communities. - Share knowledge about what is happening in different countries by the exchange of experiences and practices between them. - Create pro-active attitudes among young people towards global issues. - Increase the knowledge level of youngsters in topics like: social and global justice, climate change and other environmental topics, consumerism and sustainable lifestyle. - Stimulate participation and involvement of young people in social processes as global citizens. - Create a campaign during the activity made by the participants that will have an effect and impact on personal and community level. - Develop participants skills and competences, problem solving abilities and creativity by the usage of non-formal education methods. The youth exchange took place in October 2021 in the city of Faro, and during it was provided the space for the meeting and sharing of the 28 youngsters and 7 group leaders, aimed at the exchange of good practices, success stories and learning experiences willing to enhance the learning and developing skills which will transform them into responsible active global citizens. In the last days the participants had the chance to meet and interact with the local community during the preparation and promotion of the campaign that they created during the week of their stay. With the gathering of the success stories and showing the impact of them in the society, we would like to inspire the local community and societies in every country involved in the project.
