Objectives

We are living a frightening situation, a situation that is new for everyone and that no one was expecting. COVID 19 forced us to social isolation, to distance ourselves, to change all our routines and daily lives. We started living online, working online, socializing online... Despite living in the digital age, this reality was still unknown to many, and forced a quick and drastic adaptation from everyone, people, businesses, schools, companies, hospitals... In the midst of all the calamity, society perceives a new way of living and interacting. We realize the potential of technology and that there are many situations where contacts between people can be made at a distance. We now realize that the future may be very different from what we have known until today, where face-to-face social interactions should be carried out only when strictly necessary and always with the safety conditions that the situation demands. This new situation brings many questions. What will the future look like? What will be the future of the economy? What will be the future of education? What will the future of health care be? Can we go back to socializing as before? Will we be able to walk down the street again without fear? Can we go back to doing the things we love the most? But one question worries youth workers... What will be the future of our organizations? Will we ever again be able to implement our activities without restrictions? Will we be able to continue to travel and create international mobility projects? Will it be possible to keep the organizations functioning in the same logic? We know that associativism, namely the youth associations in which we are involved, live a lot from human contact, social interactions, bringing groups of people together and promoting activities with and for them. In an age when these interactions and socialization have been forbidden, how can we continue to do our work? This training course came about in this sense. We wanted to reflect on how this reality affected each organization involved at the local level and how this problem affected Europe and the relationship between Member States. We wanted to reflect and define strategies and methodologies so that we can continue to support our communities, taking into account all the existing restrictions. Is it possible for associations to go online? What is the role of youth organizations in the post-covid recovery? Is it possible to use technology to our advantage, bringing modernization and innovation to a sector that is often outdated and out of touch with the reality of young people? Would this be the opportunity to re-approach young people to youth organizations and thus motivate their active participation? These were the questions we wanted to answer during this course, through reflection and sharing of experiences between various youth workers from different European countries. After discussions and sharing on this theme, we worked on and created new methodologies for working with young people, taking advantage of the newly discovered learning scenarios with enormous potential. The idea was to bring everyday activities into the digital world, through creative methods and innovative tools. A tool kit was created where the various activities and methodologies created were described, explanations of how we could adapt our daily activities to new technologies, how we could motivate the participation of young people from a distance and, most importantly, how we could modernize our work and make it more interesting and attractive to young people. A digital platform was also created and made accessible to all the project partners, which they could use to implement their activities, as well as serve to exchange and share materials and new methodologies created after the project. Basically, the objectives of this project were Discuss the consequences of the pandemic in each country and at the European level; Reflect on the future of youth organizations and their role in post-covid recovery; To create new methodologies and tools that allow working at a distance with young people; Create a tool kit with all the methodologies created to support the work of youth workers; Create a digital platform for sharing materials, implementing activities and communication between youth workers and organizations.
