In order to create this project, first we had a small research on youth work and volunteering in post-Covid-19 era. We observed a rapid change in the style of communication among young people. During our SWOT analysis, we have realized that youth workers needed to learn new ways to reach them, engage and motivate the young volunteers. They needed to learn how to adapt themselves to the use of the new online communication tools, without putting a bad stamp on that and “scare” the volunteers but rather adapt their behavior and use the online social tools as educational tools rather than just only communication tools. So our basic need for this project was the innovation and better quality of youth work was the professional development of youth workers on the topic of the efficient use of online tools when communicating and working with volunteers and also to learn how to better promote their activities, attract and engage for real those volunteers. Thus, together we developed this project that has the aim of increasing the capacity building of the partner organisations in the field of Volunteer Engagement with focus on aligning the youth worker’s digital competences to the new online trends used by young volunteers. To reach the aim we develop 3 specific objectives: 1. Developing creative and innovative online communication and collaborative work competences specific to volunteer engagement, among 33 youth workers from 16 countries, in 12 months. 2. Enhancing the effective use of innovative social media and creative online tools for communication and collaborative work with young volunteers, in at least 1 learning activity for each partner organization, in 4 months. 3. Supporting the exchange of experience and good practices in the field of volunteer engagement by using online communication and collaborative working tools, for 33 youth workers and 16 partner organizations, in 12 months. What we wanted to achieve with this project was to foster the quality improvements in youth work, enhance the international dimension of youth activities and the capacity of youth workers and organisations in their support for youth. We believe that we have achieved this by helping the youth workers to develop a complex set of digital competences and become more efficient in their youth work by using adapted online tools when communicating and working with their volunteers, becoming more flexible and learning how to keep up with the rapid change of the digital world. This way they became more motivated to get engaged in volunteer work and on the long run, more tolerant towards cultural differences between different young groups and different generations.
