Objectives

Youth are currently facing EU policies, politics and decision-making processes and take a strong interest in learning more about it. However, some young people face prejudices and scepticism, that reveal the need to develop argumentation, presentation and convincing skills in communication at higher level. This set of skills are the most important when it comes about Euroscepticism and fake news regarding the current challenges of the European Union. The Brexit, the new wave of immigrants, the COVID-19 epidemic caused a lot of panic among youth regarding their future and fears that our political leaders are overwhelmed and unprepared to manage these situations. These fears are fueled by fake news that makes these situations more confuse. Also young people from our communities showed to have low media literacy skills, especially young people with fewer opportunities being at risk of marginalization and isolation, and they are very vulnerable in front of disinformation and Eurosceptic narratives. In this context the project aimed to tackle Euroscepticism among young people by improving their media literacy skills, the ability to identify fake news and select carefully information and their information sources. Also we aimed to raise youth participation at all levels (local, national, European) and responsible citizenship. The objectives of our project were: •to develop the critical thinking young people about what they read and hear related to media news; •to improve media literacy skills young people in order to counter Euroscepticism and promote European fundamental values; •to engage and responsibilize young people in becoming active citizens involved in issues that concern them and their community, especially regrading Euroscepticism and fake news; •to develop the capacity of partner organization to make exchange of good practices related to national and international youth policies in order to tackle Euroscepticism and improve media literacy.
