Objectives

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) pandemic is exacting a huge toll on individuals, families, communities, and societies across the world. Daily lives have been profoundly changed, economies have fallen into recession, and many of the traditional social, economic, and public health safety nets that many people rely on in times of hardship have been put under unprecedented strain. As of 2 March 2020 at 08:00, more than 89 068 cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide, mainly in China and from all Chinese provinces; of these cases, around 9 000 cases were reported from other countries. As of 2 March, 66 countries have reported cases. Updates on the epidemiology of COVID-19 can be found on ECDC’s website https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/covid-19-pandemic . In some states, government announced the decision to declare a state of emergency throughout country due to the coronavirus pandemic. Decision declaring state of emergency in Serbia http://www.pravno-informacioni-sistem.rs/SlGlasnikPortal/eli/rep/sgrs/predsednik/odluka/2020/29/1/reg These disasters not only brought death and destruction, they did so disproportionately to the poor and marginalized. Today, it is well accepted that the actions and decisions of individuals, communities and nations make a significant difference as to whether or not a natural hazard turns into a disaster. Choices made with the aim of reducing the human impact of natural hazards can be described as disaster risk reduction (DRR), in the broadest sense. There is widespread agreement that legal frameworks are a critical tool for governments to shape these choices, both for themselves and for others. We believe that disasters can be significantly reduced if people are informed and aware of prevention.(https://www.undrr.org/)Youth worker from Serbia gather a group of youngsters who were interested in life-cycle of the project. During the online meetings, taken by the current situation regarding Covid 19, youngsters got an idea that it will be good to learn more on topic of youth activism and empowerment in times of disasters and crisis, because they felt very hopeless and with no clue what to do and what is happening around them. With help of the youth worker, beside topic and tools, youngsters also prepared a survey for the youngsters from partner countries in order to gather their opinion on the topic. Youngster also participate in creating the program of Youth Exchange. So, they will use this opportunity to prepare and create some short video, a song and short theater play for other youngsters to better prepare them for future actions and to better understand the situations.
