Objectives

Based on the feedback given by the participants of the youth exchange and the partners we can say that youth exchange met its objectives. HOW.The project idea was born and implemented between youths of 3 Somalian NGOs connected through refugee integration, who prepared the project based on their own needs. Thus objectives were the answer to the needs of youths organising the project, as a consequence by implementing the project, youths answered their own needs and project objectives. The objectives were reached through a variety of non-formal based activities including interactive presentations, discussions, group works in mix-intercultural teams as well as through activities aiming to raise awareness about the topic of peace. Specifically, we have answered the issue of lack of dialogue (Peace Talks) between immigrants and locals as hinder to solve issue of exclusion and hate speech towards migrants. We have successfully worked on our need to gather immigrant youths&local youths, identify good practices that worked for others for inclusion, to connect and support each other in finding NFE tools for promoting positive speech online & offline, instead of negative. We created YE to address our needs and make our, like minded local&migrant youth, voice heard in the community in order to start Peace Talks: between us (youths), NGOs and local authorities. We have started to talk Peace and our slogan “Let’s Talk Peace” was answered. AIM of YE was to use NFE tools to promote positive talk between youths from migrant&non-migrant background and other actors (NGOs, community, municipality and media) in order to empower ourselves to initiate positive speech (as opposite of hate speech), positive actions&inspire others do same. YE was aimed for youths with refugee or migrant background, local youths, youth leaders and those involved in working with migrants. OBJECTIVES to fulfil the aim were: 1inform youths on meaning, elements&causes of Hate Speech&power of Peace Talks; 2promote mindset of inclusion and sense of initiative to accept&include yourself (be EU citizen); 3empower&provide tools for youths, especially refugees, to take positive actions promoting inclusion&no hate speech; 4exchange good practices related to international migration and inclusion (point of views from migrants & non-migrants); 5involve local institutions&NGOs in discussion with young migrants regarding the needs; 6promote equity and inclusion by giving access to participants with disadvantaged backgrounds; 7transfer the knowledge of European mobility programs (Erasmus+&ESC) for inclusion to local community; 8promote cooperation between NGOs that are working with migration and integration; 9develop new initiatives in the field of youth mobility within Erasmus + giving migrants and local youths the same opportunities.
