Objectives

The project aims to make young people aware of the countryside, rural life, and the potential it offers. We think that too many young people are leaving the countryside in the hope of a better future that life in the city can offer (increased accessibility of services, more job opportunities, more housing, access to public transport, more events for young people, etc.). . The project aims to show young people the potential of the countryside and the benefits it offers (peace, nature, self-care, home-made meals and products, contact with nature and farm animals, etc.). Even during the Corona Virus epidemic, when we had to stay at home in isolation, life in the countryside further showed all its benefits. Rural self-sufficiency also plays a very important role in the country's self-sufficiency. We want to explore the reasons (climatic, geographical, political,…) why self-sufficiency with a certain raw material is larger, with another less. We also want to show young people how they can be self-sufficient. What and how to grow in the garden, what can be done and cooked with these crops and how to prepare pickled/stored food for winter. The project aims to bring together young people from different countries to share experiences, knowledge and ideas together, and we will be able to use this and pass it on to local communities. The goals of our project are: to get to know rural development, to get acquainted with the social aspect of rural population (rural demography), to examine examples of good rural development practices in different countries, to explore self-sufficiency (at individual and national level), to teach young people how to become as self-sufficient as possible, develop the personal competences of young participants, raise awareness of the importance of maintaining life in the countryside and encourage them to actively participate in similar projects, involve young people with fewer opportunities, train in teamwork, network organizations and build partnerships.
