We live in times when the consequences of climate change due to anthropogenic factors are already very pronounced, which we can also witness in the national and the European environment (e.g. increasingly frequent annual heat waves, fires in the Karst in Slovenia, floods in Germany...). In addition, due to the actions of older generations, today's youth are already marked as the most vulnerable generation - the generation that will live the longest in an unhealthy environment (The Lancet Report, 2019). At the same time, this is a generation who not only wants for the world and society to change, to be more sustainable, but also wishes to actively participate in achieving those changes. At the Institute for Health and Environment, we have recognized the need to empower youth, youth organizations, youth workers and organizations for young people with knowledge and competences that will help them to adapt to consequences of climate changes and also to cope with the problems, indirectly connected to climate change (e.g. migration, inflation). The project actively promoted mobility and international networking, youth participation, volunteering and advocacy. The project also raised awareness of the overarching global problem - climate change and the correlation between environmental pollution and public health. We have hoped that the activities will enable the participants to gain new knowledge, develop and strengthen their competences, especially in the fields of advocacy, climate change and cross-cutting topics of environment and health, also through the prism of critical thinking. The mentioned new knowledge and competences are useful both for personal and professional development of youth and youth workers involved in the project and their youth organizations. With the international component, we wanted to enable the participants to learn and experience foreign cultures, encourage networking with foreign organizations and individuals, and enable the active use of a foreign language, especially English. Through the project, we pursued the overarching priority areas (2015-2020) defined by the MOVIT National Agency, the goals of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development (e.g. health and well-being and climate change) and the goals of the framework for European cooperation in the field of youth (2010 -2018), e.g. health and well-being, participation, education and training, youth around the world.
