Care for the protection of the environment, reducing the amount of waste, raising awareness of the possibilities of reuse and thinking about innovative solutions for waste recycling are becoming increasingly important in times of excessive consumerism. That's why the project partners and our young members decided together to tackle this topic within the framework of a joint project involving 5 partner organizations, 35 young participants and 5 youth leaders from five EU countries. As part of this project, we enabled the young participants to learn more about the topic of recycling waste materials. Together we researched and learned about various innovative solutions regarding the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste materials. One of the more important goals of this project was that all these new insights helped the young participants in their personal development and to encourage them to be more active in local environments even after the project is over. Caring for the environment and empowering young people is very important and strongly linked to the priorities of the Erasmus+ program as well as to the European Union Youth Strategy 2019-2027, in which they particularly emphasize and point out the importance of involved and empowered young people in achieving EU policy goals and the importance social and civic engagement of young people. The objectives of the project were strongly linked to the objectives of this strategy. We also enabled young participants to develop and strengthen their key competencies during their participation in the project. We believe that all this is particularly important for young people with fewer opportunities, who are less likely to encounter such topics, and we are sure that they took a lot away from the project. We expected that, after the project, young people would be more active in their environments in the field of environmental protection and also in youth organizations. We also achieved these expectations. We are in regular contact with many young people and discuss with them about future participations on projects. We agree with our partners that this project will have a positive effect for all partner organizations, as we have gained access to new knowledge that we can pass on to our young members, thus helping them understand the field of environmental protection and encouraging them to actively participate in society and apply solutions learned during this project in their local environments.
