Objectives

The main goal of the project was to inform young people about how gender equality can be supported and implemented in local youth projects and to develop recommendations on ensuring gender equality in working with young people in disadvantaged areas. This project provided an opportunity for young people to explore how gender roles and expectations influence identity and individual rights, while also aiming to inspire young people to take steps to address issues rooted in gender norms and dominant masculine norms to achieve greater gender equality in their communities. Obstacles faced by particularly vulnerable women, such as migrants, women with disabilities, and women in rural areas, were taken into consideration, as well as the impact of the financial crisis on women's rights. In addition to this theoretical framework, the project focused on fundamental knowledge in the field of human rights and the technical aspects of implementing relevant local activities as a means of combating gender inequalities and promoting women's rights. The project "Gender Equality in Your Community" focuses on building an inclusive and peaceful society by supporting the fight against gender inequalities and gender-based violence, which is currently a pressing issue in local communities, especially in rural areas. Participation in the project helped young people understand women's rights, explore the phenomenon of gender discrimination, gain the ability to recognize stereotypes and prejudices against women, confront these phenomena within their own community, and be capable of implementing human rights education projects in the local community in the near future. Through the project, participants became familiar with values necessary for adhering to and supporting human rights, such as respect, solidarity, and non-discrimination, which are also essential prerequisites for achieving gender equality. Objectives: Identify challenges faced by young people in disadvantaged areas in relation to gender equality, with a specific focus on the Erasmus+ program for the youth sector. Analyze and propose how the principles of gender equality can be introduced in our local youth centers with young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods based on local needs. Promote the Gender Equality Strategy among young people - a priority in the Erasmus+ program.
