Objectives

The second edition of the Moving Ideas Forward project addressed a number of common challenges that not only participating organisations are facing. During several years of cooperation, Member Organisations of the EYP together with their umbrella organisation were able to identify recurring challenges that the organisations are facing. The European Dialogue took an initiative and developed the Moving Ideas Forward project around those challenges that are the most common and related to three interconnected areas. First of them is sustainable NGO management in general, including organisational democracy, risk management, leadership, motivation, inclusion, anti-discrimination, and accessibility. Second main area is successful fundraising, new business models in media, project management, and evaluation. Last area is the development of international networks, cooperation, and communication with partners. The training of youth workers was built or carried out on the basis of principles of democracy, cooperation, participation, improvement of content’s quality, leadership, and continuous development. Emphasis was also put on exchange of skills and best practices in organisational and project development. Participants trained in all those areas and adopting said principles are able to develop new quality projects and activities in the field of youth work, enhance capacities of their current or future organisations, and inspire and empower young people to take active roles in the society and develop new successful initiatives. Generally speaking, the main objective of the project was to improve some of the very basic working mechanisms and capacities of involved youth workers and their organisations. The main point was to empower them to be able to reach a wider range of young people, and to improve the quality of their everyday activities. Specific objectives were to: 1) raise knowledge of and/or improve skills in the project themes: a) NGO and project management and development, b) fundraising, c) democratic governance; 2) improve skills in writing a strategic and fundraising plan and in using new media/communication technologies; 3) strengthen capacities and network of EYP’s Member Organisations and strategic partners of the European Dialogue – primarily those involved in this project; 4) empower participants to become multipliers and inspire other youth workers and organisations. Exchange of experiences, best practices, and peer-to-peer learning were key methods to achieve the above-mentioned objectives and development. The input from trainers, facilitators, and external experts on various topics was therefore complemented by exchange of experience between the participants. By gathering people with various experiences and backgrounds, the organisers made sure the participants were able to develop new materials (project proposals, plans, methods) connected to topics of the project.
