Objectives

“Social Inclusion Via Volunteering” is an Erasmus+ youth exchange project, the main activity of which was organized by the “Cankiri Municipality FSM Academy Project Group” between 25 June - 2 July 2022 in Cankiri, Türkiye, with 23 participants from Ireland, Spain and Türkiye. While creating our project, we aimed to address the problem of social exclusion with young people from different countries and to carry out volunteer activities for children, who are a disadvantaged group. We planned an international youth exchange in order to see the European dimension of the problems we are in and to reduce the negative effects and create a synergy by ensuring the exchange of good examples. The main aim of our youth exchange is to promote the social inclusion of young people by providing volunteering opportunities to the participants, thereby increasing connections with young people in the local community. Social inclusion is a process that helps people participate in life economically, socially and culturally. In our project, the problem of social exclusion and volunteerism, which we propose as a solution, are discussed in all details. Our project was designed and implemented as a one-to-one project with the title of "Promoting projects on the social inclusion and welfare of young people", which is among the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme. Every member of society, regardless of their background or social status, should be able to participate in society and be encouraged to contribute to social-cultural life. We believe that volunteering can play a very important role in social inclusion. Everyone has something to contribute to society, and volunteering enables all people to use their skills and talents to participate in their communities. However, volunteering enables people to empower themselves while meeting new people and developing new skills. As volunteering facilitates youth inclusion, it strengthens the bonds of young people and their communities, increasing social inclusion and giving these volunteers a sense of belonging and respect for their community. Young people today are at risk of social exclusion. The European Union proposes to its member states to promote social inclusion and to support work to build cohesive societies. We created our project based on the need to carry out activities for this situation. By implementing our youth exchange, to better understand the concept of social exclusion and volunteering, and to carry out practical studies using volunteering as one of the methods of combating social exclusion; At the same time, we believe that we provide mutual intercultural learning between participants and also with the local.
