Objectives

Problems that modernization brought have led young people to focus on prepared and fast consumption and caused their imagination to be declined and their personal skills not to be discovered and made them passive persons. Young people have had difficulty producing new ways and become identical persons being estranged to art, national existence and their cultures. Especially, traditional handcraft arts are forgotten and are faced with the danger of vanishing. Beginning of serial production, craftsman’s not being sufficiently supported, handcrafts' demand for much work and time and young people’s not being interested in handcrafts and lack of communication between craftsmen and young people are serious problems about conveying these values to other generations. Traditional handcrafts have a crucial role in shaping and improving society. These improvements are a rural improvement, women’s development with their labor, improving tourism, declining immigration from countryside to urban and increasing workforce. We have decided to carry out this project in order to prevent the erosion in cultural heritage and to revive these arts via young people. Our main target is to raise awareness and interest via young people to handcrafts which are one of the national values and one of the arts being forgotten, contributing to conveying these arts to the future generations by making the young people conscious about their skills and talents and provide the young a new way of the workforce. Our special targets are these ; -Making the young conscious about the importance of handcraft arts which are building stones for national and cultural values. -Helping young people increase their interest in handcraft arts by providing them the chance of practicing these arts. -Making young people dissuade from consumption and fabrication concepts and rise awareness of their own skills. -Contributing to local economies by introducing these arts to local people and young persons.
