Objectives

The concept of gender equality, which concerns us all, is not only a fundamental right, but also one of the internationally accepted Sustainable Development Goals. Gender equality focuses on the protection of human rights, the functioning of democracy, the rule of law, economic development and competitiveness. Gender roles, characteristics and behaviors deemed appropriate for the genders of individuals are the main factors that prevent gender equality and cause the continuation of inequality. The assumptions we have made based on gender may result in people being treated differently or being offered different opportunities based on their gender. Gender roles are mixed, but are based on local culture and traditions. 34% of Lithuanians, 33% of Romanians and Bulgarians find it unacceptable that men cry; Lithuania More than 70% of respondents in Poland and Turkey believe that women tend to think more emotionally than men when making decisions; Various examples can be presented, such as that according to 81% of Bulgaria, 78% of Hungary and 77% of Poland, the most important duty of women is to take care of the home and family (Gender Equality, Euro-barometer 2017). Bulgaria(12.4), Hungary(11.3), Lithuania(10.9); Considering the values of Sweden(3), Denmark(4.4)Spain(5.1), it is highly likely that the highest gender role index (Euro-barometer 2017) is found in the eastern, central and some southern member states. It is very critical to be aware that both genders are equal and should be treated equally, and should be given equal opportunuties. Therefore, raising awareness of gender roles and the negative consequences of these roles is very important to ensure gender equality. 91% of Europeans think that gender equality is important in building a just and democratic society, 87% for companies and the economy, and 84% personally for them. Statistics on gender inequality; It clearly shows that awareness should be increased, gender equality and human rights should be addressed with a positive approach and negative stereotypes and gender discrimination should be reduced. We believe that young adults are a critical point in reducing the issue of gender inequality over time, with the awareness that young people take the lead in the vast majority of positive changes. Young people are the innovators, creators, founders and leaders of the future. They are the people who will contribute the most to the re-creation of gender roles. The aim of the project is to promote equality, to help participants (18-30 years old) to recognize and analyze gender roles and to promote gender equality in daily life. Throughout the project, we will show how existing values and norms affect our reality, how they perpetuate stereotypes and the support mechanisms that produce inequality. We will question values and gender norms by explaining how they affect and limit decision making. In addition, the project activities aim to promote a general sensitivity towards gender issues. The aims of the project are as follows: -To increase the knowledge of the participants about gender and gender-related problems - Creating narratives in line with European values, revealing gender stereotypes among participants, eliminating false information and presenting different models - To raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and to identify the steps on the way to gender equality - Promote gender equality - Promote European values through intercultural dialogue, tolerance, respect for human rights and differences -Introducing the Erasmus+ Youth program - We believe that by achieving the stated goals such as developing the skills and abilities of the participants, encouraging critical thinking, intercultural communication and international cooperation, facilitating social inclusion, strengthening international solidarity, establishing networks at local, national and international levels, we will create societies that embrace gender equality, create gender-based awareness among societies, and also raise awareness of young people in participating countries about gender.
