Objectives

In implementing "Ideas and Actions for a New Europe," our overarching ambition was to strengthen European citizenship, particularly in the context of challenges like Brexit. This project was designed to equip a new generation of youth workers with essential skills and ideas to foster active citizenship and intercultural unity. By engaging young people in exploring their "Europeanness," we aimed to empower them as agents of international integration, capable of orchestrating and executing successful community-building projects. The project comprised three distinct courses—CULTURE, POLITICS, and ECONOMICS—each with its unique theme and emphasis but sharing some core content. Our general objectives were multifaceted: - Exploration of European Unity: We sought to delve into and celebrate the emotional-cultural underpinnings of our collective European identity, understanding what differentiates and unites various European nations. - Understanding the European Project's Challenges: Our goal was to research potential threats to European unity, formulate new strategies for a more cohesive and healthier Europe, and examine positive existing initiatives in this area. - Empowering Participants: We focused on equipping participants with new ideas and skills for European community-building, nurturing their personal growth in self-expression, relationships, and strategies for enhancing continent-wide cohesion. - Creating an Online Networking Forum: We aimed to establish a platform for sharing and promoting ideas and initiatives, fostering ongoing activities to extend the benefits of the course. Specific objectives for each course included: - CULTURE: Exploring conditions conducive to a vibrant cultural life, the interplay of art, education, and religion with personal freedom, and fostering self-confidence and adaptability in participants. - POLITICS: Investigating best practices in democratic processes and progressive political initiatives, and encouraging participants towards self-empowerment and active political citizenship. - ECONOMICS: Examining progressive economic models, contemplating compassionate capitalism, and enhancing participants’ community awareness and financial acumen. As outcomes, we expected our participants to gain: - Intercultural Understanding: Improved social integration and a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity. - Professional Skills: Enhanced language and professional competencies, leading to better employability. - Personal Development: Boosted self-esteem, initiative, and entrepreneurial skills. - Youth-Worker Skills: Advanced creative tools and techniques for effective youth work. - Understanding of European Values: A richer grasp of the values driving the European project and a stronger desire to participate in a democratic society. A key envisaged outcome was the widespread, grassroots revitalisation of the European project through community-building initiatives developed by participants in their home countries. Our goal was for "Ideas and Actions for a New Europe" to serve as a vibrant forum where youth and youth workers could discover inspiring ideas, forge cross-cultural connections, and return home invigorated to contribute to the future of Europe.
