The economic crisis caused by the global lockdown and long-term uncertainty resulted in the sharp decline of young people’s enthusiasm to become entrepreneurs, thus leading to the lowering of inflow of young people’s innovative ideas into the field. However, the partnership of our youth organisations has a strong belief that youth entrepreneurship should not go down and there is room for optimism in the sphere of self-employment. Young entrepreneurs are able to create their own jobs, become leaders, introduce new products and new ways of marketing, create links to networks outside their inner circles and revive local economies. It is complicated, but young people are the ones who know that enthusiasm and hard joint efforts can work wonders. The partners are sure that a project aimed at maintaining or restoring the faith of young people in the institute of entrepreneurship is vital for this field. Young people, the most agile of all layers of society, are well aware that economic shake-ups can create tremendous opportunities for those who dare. After the 2008 recession, two huge companies were born: Airbnb and Uber. Both found ways to disrupt old business models by empowering everyday people to find new revenue streams, offering creative, viable, affordable alternatives to traditional solutions. The youth found themselves unable to rely on institutions only, with self-employment and innovation being a very attractive way out. During the wake of the crisis, active young people, some of whom once had been inspired by previous Erasmus+ projects to start up their own business ventures, approached our youth organisations with a daring but logical initiative. They encouraged forming the partnership for a project where they could share their views with peers from partner European countries interested in entrepreneurship to realise that any recession can and should be viewed as a passageway into new opportunities and turned into such. The youth organisations that eventually formed the partnership for this project knew from their vast experience of working with young people that the youth have a special ability to adapt to a changing labour and social environment. All they require is a little hand and empowerment. So, when our organisations were approached by the young people with the above-mentioned idea to make this project, its goal and objectives were developed rather quickly and seamlessly. The youth from different parts of Europe, united by the common concerns about their future, decided to concentrate this project on equipping young entrepreneurs to-be with the skills, information and knowledge required to develop their spirit of initiative and share ideas on how the current situation can reload the entire entrepreneurship ecosystem, opening up new opportunities for daring and optimistic youth. The project objectives were to: - keep promoting entrepreneurial skills by showing that innovative mindsets can make it through difficult times; - help young people from different parts of Europe, who maintain their enthusiasm to be young entrepreneurs, in finding common ground on a personal, professional and cultural level; - identify good practices and challenges related to the topic of entrepreneurship; - engage the active participation of young people in sharing their ideas how to overcome the obstacles to entrepreneurship and self-employment; - exchange principles and practices of youth participation and youth empowerment in a non-formal way; - facilitate inter-sectorial (NGOs, private businesses) networking processes among participants and partner organisations; - equip the participants with empowerment skills to share their knowledge/competences with their peers; - encourage active participation in grass-root initiatives among young people; - encourage innovation in the spheres related to entrepreneurship and self-employment.
