Inclusion - equityIntegration of refugeesMigrants' issues

Objectives

The main purpose of this project was to equip youth workers with tools and knowledge on how to be catalysts of integration with the young migrants or refugees with whom they work. Through it, the youth workers who took part increased their understanding of the difficulties migrants face, the causes of leaving their country of origin and how they in the role of youth workers can play a key role in the integration process in new communities. The objectives of the project were: - Break down stereotypes one may have about other cultures sometimes far removed from our own - Help participants understand what migrants have to endure while traveling to their final destination, - Increase participants' knowledge and awareness of contemporary issues and challenges related to migration, migrants and refugees. - Improve the capacity of youth organizations to work for / with migrants and refugees. - Show youth leaders/workers how to encourage intercultural dialogue and build mutual understanding between newcomers and host communities - Explore the role(s) of a youth worker/leader in the refugee and (newly arrived) migrant inclusion and outreach process. - Provide youth workers with effective tools and methods for training and activities to learn how to address refugee issues with native youth. - Find and create new tools that can be used for a successful inclusion process within the various partners that will be present in the training. - Developing future ideas for inclusion partnerships among the partners featured in the training course. We worked on the above issues to achieve the listed goals by providing useful methods and techniques for youth workers to better understand what the migrants go through to achieve better living conditions, as well as how they as youth workers can be catalysts for integration, now having specific skills to facilitate the integration process and create a dialogue with local youth with the idea of fostering mutual understanding between newcomers and the host communities leading to a decrease in racism and xenophobia.
