Objectives

Our aim: We wanted to implement this project to understand young people with mental health challenges better, use non formal education tools to include them in our community and help them maintain good mental health. Target group Youth workers, youth leaders & NGOs workers Mental health issues have become Europe’s one of the greatest public health challenges of the 21st century. The prevalence of mental illnesses are a major cause of death, disability, & economic burden. It is estimated that depression would be the second leading contributor to the global burden of disease across all ages. One of the main reasons of suicide WHO (2020). Since Covid-19 pandemic has started, the number of young people suffering from isolation, loneliness, stress, depression, fear & anxiety have increased even more dangerously. With our project we first analysed the problem with project partners taking into account the challenges they faced in their daily work and we finalised the most common problems; - feeling lonely and unsafe - fearing about their families’ health due to COVID-19 - suffering from trauma due to escaping war/and human rights violations (most of our partners work directly with refugees.) - loss of their jobs and financial insecurities - worried about their futures - social, personal problems with family & friends - lack of support to balance work-study-social life and exclusion in the society. -young people in NEET situations were under higher risk of isolation, exclusion & mental health disorders. -lack of soft & social skills. After analysing the problem we came up with a solution below -Train youth workers for mental health in youth work - Implement Mental Health Non Formal Learning (NFL) tools such as positive psychology techniques, relaxation techniques, CBT and EFT, NLP anger and stress management tools in our daily activities (e.g.; story sharing, breathing exercises, acro-yoga, running, art & design, cultural evenings, cultural exchanges etc.) - Continued providing a safe space for young people to meet with their peers alike, to be involved in activities we as project partners organise Objectives -To improve key competences and skills of youth workers for better mental health in youth work (It improved quality of young people's lives and better cope with stress, fear, anxiety, trauma) -To promote & to enhance intercultural learning, non formal learning, promote intercultural and inter religious dialogue, EU Values. Our project created a safe platform for equal opportunity -To transfer skills and non formal education tools among participant to improve the quality of their work with young people with have mental health challenges (fear, anxiety, stress etc) (We used positive psychology techniques, meditation, stress management, breathing techniques will help us reach this goal) -To promote social inclusion, solidarity & social and cultural diversity through our non-formal and informal education activities at local and international levels. Our project created an international learning environment which helped reach this goal and interactive nonformal education activities improved their analytical, decision-making, social & foreign languages competences) - To offer an opportunity to build networks of international contacts, opportunity for new future projects (International experience, learning from best practises for better mental health in youth work with simple & effective tools increased capacity of partner organisations) By bringing international young people together, we also offered an opportunity to build networks of international contacts, and be in touch for new future projects. We organised an NGO fair where all partners presented their organisations, their work. With future project development participants worked in groups to create new projects. - To promote Erasmus+ programme, Austrian National Agency and the European Commission. We dedicated a session on Erasmus+ sessions to promote the programme and our National Agency, Our project was in line with 'EU's Youth Strategies' -to sustain "health & well-being" - to promote MENTAL health in youth work, sport, physical activity & healthy lifestyles and to raise awareness of how intercultural learning can help achieve these goals.
