The Romanian and the Austrian partners selected the organizations after analyzing the learning needs and the level of interest and willing to implement this project together on each organization. The aim of the project was to strengthen the knowledge about democracy, the EU Citizenship and the values of the European Union amongst young people. Most of the young people of the Euopean Union are not aware of the fact that they have special rights only because they are from an EU country. Also Youth workers were concerning to a lack of knowledge about the topic EU Citizenship, the rights and the values of the European Union and therefore needed a better understanding and how to transfer the knowledge to their target group. To reach these aims the project we had the following objectives: - youth workers obtained a deeper understanding upon the meaning, the elements and the importance of the EU Citizenship and the values of the European Union - youth workers obtained a deeper expertise upon how to engage young people to participate on a local activity which was about the rights as an EU Citizen and the values of the European Union - youth workers were more proactive upon spreading the elements of the EU Citizenship and the values of the European Union amongst young people - youth workers had more expertise upon how to encourage young people to take part in the democratic life of Europe Considering that the project promoted the meaningful civic, economic, social, cultural and political participation of young people, it fostered the exchange of experience of young people and the project encouraged them to take charge of their own lives. The project fostered Article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union which sets the values of the European Union, especially the values of equality, human dignity and the respect for human rights. The project is in line with the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme defined in the Programme Guide since the project partners will improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, including participants with fewer opprotunities, as well as the promotion of a democratic life, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solodarity.
