Objectives

The project partners realised that their youth workers did not have enough competences how to address young people with fewer opportunities who chose to watch series in their free-time instead of participating on a local activity and also they had a lack of knowledge about the world of series and the habits of series-lover young people. With this project we wanted to provide tools and methods for youth workers on how to address young people and how to motivate them to join local activities within their organisations. Youth workers of the project partners engaged young people to join local activities and foster their following skills and knowledge by using series as non-formal education: 1) strategic thinking 2) social competences 3) creative thinking 4) critical thinking. The project partners recognized the need of the young people to improve themselves in these matters since these skills and competences were not educated in public schools. The aim of the project was to improve competences of the youth workers by the usage of series in order to engage young people with fewer opportunities to participate in local youth activities The project had the following objectives: a) to improve the knowledge of youth workers upon the world of series and get an insight of the series-watching habits of young people during the period of the project. b) to gain information during the period of the project about the copyrights of the series. c) to have a deeper understanding upon the meaning and importance of the following skills and competences: 1) strategic thinking 2) social competences 3) critical thinking 4) creative thinking. d) to gain skills during the period of the project and to create non-formal education methods with their peers from other European countries. Furthermore this project addressed the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights belonging to minorities.
