The wish behind this project was to create more adapted hosting ESC placements for young visually impaired persons as volunteering activities have a very important impact on personal and professional growth of young participants, especially visually impaired persons. Generally, young people with disability experience far more difficulties before leaving, as they don't know how to deal with practical issues related to their specific situation abroad. As far as our experience taught us, organisations wishing to include young people with disability and especially with visual impairment face several obstacles: 1. lack of comfort to set up an activity including young people with disability because they don't have the know how on it and don't have the opportunity to get in touch with other organization that have experienced in this; 2. lack of confidence from parents who don't feel comfortable or might act in a protective way towards their children with visual impairment; 3. lack of information on practical issues in order to set up a successful stay for a positive impact on the young participants; 4. the need of more support necessary for a participant with visual impairment and the luck of self esteem that a person with visual impairment might face before living or during the ESC activity itself. All these aspects are crucial for setting up a good project and for being a key of success for the young participant with visual impairment. That's why for each question it's important to have the right answer. Through this project we aimed: - to increase the number of organizations dealing with young people with visual impairment; - to increase the quality of existing projects and partnerships; - to reinforce the local network among organizations starting new co-operations; - to increase, as a consequence, the number of young people involved into international volunteering activities (both at individual and group level) - to create a pool of resource persons in several organisations across Europe who are able to inform young visually impaired people in their community about volunteering and ESC.
