Objectives

The COVID-19 outbreak evidently represents a massive challenge for the youth work sector since March 2020. Almost overnight, it has completely changed the way we all must work, putting up new obstacles between young people and the vital support that the sector provides. The digitalisation of every aspect of our lives is a matter of fact, so its only natural that youth work and non-formal learning receive a digital update as well. This project aims to increase the capacity of the youth work sector and prepare youth workers to explore digital tools that will be included in their daily youth work by the following steps: 1. Define digital competency and literacy using the Digital Competencies Framework 2.0 (DigComp), created and run by the European Commission as a guide; 2. Gather, discuss and refine the main complaints we (the project network of organizations) have in regard to online NFL and youth work, address the issues that they raise and define the collective needs they stem from; 3. Refrain the needs and issues into solution-based goals - objectives; 4. Break-down goals into clear and specific sets of skills, competencies and know-how that participants need to acquire; 5. Embody the desired learning outcomes in an accessible, multicultural program of diverse activities (action plan) by incorporating various NFL methods, digital learning tools, platforms and methodologies, the 8 Key Competencies, objectives and values underlying in the specific key action (KA105) and the Erasmus+ Programme. Thereby the project objectives will promote quality youth work through supporting open and innovative practices in a digital era. The pillar "DigWork" project objectives are to: – Provide development, innovation & improvement in abilities by establishing an effective alternative online path to wider opportunities within the youth work community of each partner prganization; – Builde capacity of youth workers to respond to digitalization through a training that meets their needs, their target group's needs (with a focus on those with fewer opportunities) and their organisation's needs; – Improve digital youth work planning and the development of digital youth work strategies through increasing awareness of youth workers of ethical and organisational considerations, requirements, advantages and disadvantages of digital youth work; – Raise awareness of digital youth work as a newly emerging, powerful tool within the youth work sector. To complete our objectives, we have designed the training course "DigitUp" as an extensive, multilayered learning experience that will provide its participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to improve their digital skills and competences in interacting with and developing online platforms for distance learning, organising, conducting and participating in webinars, creating innovative, engaging and digitally-smart visual, audio and presentational content for their work, learning and understanding the key points of digital and media literacy and passing all those along the way to the indirect receivers of our educational inputs, namely the youngsters and local communities.
