Plot Twist is a project that was brought together by Fabrika, was hosted in Cyprus and involved participants from Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Spain and the Czech Republic. The project had a clear artistic character and its vital concept was the one of storytelling, which was used as a stepping stone, and later branched out into several personal and collective themes, including and not limited to, raise of self-esteem & confidence, enhancing introspective expression, inclusion, social awareness and sense of community. Our initial aim when applied for this project, was to bring together a group of young adults, and form a community and a safe space, where different forms of art and expression are used to form and communicate stories. Over the course of the project, we used a plethora of artistic media and art genres, music, theatre, drawing, dance & experiential embodiment, poetry and written words, as well as practised the art of listening, sharing as well as mindful practised in silence. Parallel with the activities we had an intercultural /European dimension and we reflected on European topics; offered participants the space and opportunity to identify common values with persons from different countries in spite of their cultural differences; challenged their current viewpoints that perpetuate inequality, discrimination and refreshed their perspectives with more contemporary approaches; we managed to promote the respect of cultural diversity and fight against racism. Importantly, we targeted the boosting of the employability skills of participants through the workshops which will have as objectives a sense of initiative, confidence, sense of belonging and self-development. The YouthPass certificate is also a useful tool for boosting employability skills as it can be an effective tool for monitoring and categorising the learning outcomes and its importance (also as a reflective tool) was brought forward throughout the project.
