Objectives

The idea for the project was born during a Youth Exchange organized by 4L- Critical thinking for Youth. During a brainstorming session, participants discussed their future project ideas and one of them was focused on digital marketing. Considering our natural interest in the Internet and the globalized world, as well as the shift in advertising towards digital channels, we recognized the demand for specialists in creating, implementing, and evaluating online ad campaigns. Statistics indicated a significant growth in global social ad spending, reaching approximately 482 billion euros in 2017, with an expected increase to 519.73 billion euros in 2020. However, digital marketing competences are not typically taught in schools, and affordable opportunities to learn about digital marketing and freelancing are scarce. Freelancing offers several advantages for young people: - Job opportunities are not limited to a specific town or country. - Networking opportunities increase as freelancers work with different clients, leading to potential future collaborations. - Freelancing can be done online, making it a viable option for youth living in rural areas. - Flexibility in choosing working hours and workload allows freelancers to easily balance work and other activities, including school. According to Patricia Leighton, the number of self-employed professionals in the EU has grown remarkably, reaching nearly 9 million people. Freelancing has become the fastest-growing group in the European workforce, and research suggests that freelancing can drive local and economic rural development, with 65% of freelancers living in suburbs or rural areas. The goal of our project was to raise the sense of initiative among 56 participants and familiarize them with freelancing in the field of digital marketing. This would equip them with the necessary competences to enter the global labor market as freelancers, considering the growth of online advertising. The Youth Exchange took place between 10.2.2023 and 19.2.2023 in Cechtice, Czech Republic. The program focused on digital marketing and freelancing and involved 56 participants, 9 group leaders from the 4 participating countries (CZ, HU, PT, SK). The objectives achieved: 1. We facilitated safe nonformal learning contexts in which the 56 participants from the 4 organizations exchanged ideas and attitudes towards freelancing, as well as identified useful tools. 2. We increased the digital marketing competences of the 56 young participants from the 4 organizations, enabling them to become successful freelancers and gain experience in digital marketing. 3. We raised awareness among the 56 participants about the possibilities and advantages of freelancing. By achieving these objectives, we contributed to: Europe 2020 goals - empowering youth by developing their skills to increase their employability. -The specific objectives pursued by the Erasmus+ Programme in the field of youth: 1. Improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities -promote participation in labor market and social inclusion -Europe 2020 to “Education, training and lifelong learning” by increasing youth ability to focus and learn any skill they want. Additionally, our project aligned with the Inclusion and Diversity Strategy by 1. creating common understanding, 2. increasing commitment to inclusion and diversity, 3. promoting Erasmus+, and 4. reducing obstacles for young people with fewer opportunities.
