Objectives

In order to describe the expected goals of the project, we have to form three groups: those of the participants, the organizations and those of the participants' classmates and the public. 1. Through the project, participants should acquire extensive knowledge about energy policy in two countries and learn how they can reduce CO2 themselves. This enables them to achieve reflection skills and experience self-realization. Through visits from decision-makers and activists, they should learn about ways to get involved and how important citizen participation is in a democratic society. 2. Organizations: Aubiko e.V. wanted to use the project to use the opportunity to build a partnership in a country with which there had previously been no cooperation. Strategically, the topic of the environment and energy is becoming increasingly important when working with young people, so increasing knowledge at the end of the project was a desired goal. The "Hristo Botev" Foreign Languages Secondary School should also benefit from the partnership, as the project not only addresses topics that are important for young people, but at the same time the young people have the opportunity to apply and improve their language skills. The preparation and exchange with the project partners but also with NGOs should broaden horizons and strengthen intercultural skills. As part of the seminar preparations and joint Skype discussions, new collaborative tools were used and tested for their suitability, which in turn could be incorporated into the knowledge management of the organizations involved. Since aubiko e.V. had not yet carried out a project of this form, this should also serve as a template for future projects with similar content. 3. Fellow students of the participants/public: Since an exchange always leads to questioning one's own opinions and judgments, knowledge and inspiration from the workshops are actively brought into the school and private environment by the participants and thus conveyed widely across the group of participants. It was hoped that the project would result in increased environmental awareness and civic engagement. The comprehensive public relations work should not only help participants to reduce prejudices against Bulgaria on the one hand and Germany on the other. Authorities are informed about the results of the project and thereby sensitized to always keeping climate impacts in mind when taking political action. Since climate change has a lasting impact on the future of many people, it is also in the public's interest that the project spreads information (via social media) and initiates discussions, as well as strengthening the role of civic engagement. The aim of the blog with short films and posters is to make the population aware of the topic, and the presentation of the results on Facebook, YouTube and other social networks will reach a broad public in Germany, Bulgaria and possibly other European countries. In summary, it is to say: The project should initially enable the young people taking part to reflect on their perspectives and actions and, if necessary, change them. The others involved in the project - students at the school attended, passers-by, etc. - should at least be given impulses to engage more intensively with the topic of the environment. By jointly developing counter-strategies, the young people should be encouraged and empowered to point out climate problems in their personal and school environment after the project has ended, to suggest changes to their behavior and to support the whole thing with real facts and knowledge. Furthermore, the aim of the project was to sensitize a broader public on the topic of climate protection and climate change, to draw attention to it and to rethink and change their own behavior in the world and the economy. At the German school in particular, the results will be used for further clases in the focus area of culture and space. The teachers have compiled a comprehensive documentation of the workshops, which will be used as a basis for the creation of materials in this focus area. In addition, the students will be able to contribute their own experiences and thus enter the future clases already familiar with the concepts and problems.
