The ’Upskilled’ project was based on our experience working with different groups of youth and professionals. The project idea was based on 55 in-depth interviews made in 2019 with youth workers in our network. The project and the main activity were tailored to serve the learning needs of these youth workers and to provide space and time for developing key competences. There was an identified need for practical and innovative methodology used in non-formal education in our network, which stimulates participants for community building, for creating organizations and societies that work from a cooperative and network thinking. In 2018, the definition of the 8 key competences was revised and so had their implementation in the YouthPass. The framework described main competence areas that all individuals need for personal and professional fulfillment, for social inclusion and active citizenship and to lead a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. We decided to focus practically on the 8 key competences, as we found them crucial for youth workers to be able to design learning activities for other young people. The intention was to equip the participants with a toolkit that is useful in developing every key competence. This had an impact on employment opportunities of the people involved, either directly in the training or indirectly, or by being involved in the follow-up work of the participants. In particular, our aim was to solve another problem, that is the lack of confidence on own ideas, towards the achievement of self-awareness and self-development of youth workers and personal objectives. Our project objectives therefore were: - To provide practical tools and methods for quality planning, implementation and evaluation of international projects that make a positive impact - To gather professionals of the youth field with different social and cultural background in order to design more non-formal learning programs focusing on the 8 key competences - To provide participants with practical, concrete tools and techniques which they can apply in their organizations and most importantly in their work with disadvantaged youth - To support participants in realizing their project ideas - To promote innovation in youth work through entrepreneurial and network thinking - To develop personal skills and mindset such as creativity, flexibility, ability to take risks and self-promotion
