The project "It's time for recovery. Vocational education connects young Europeans in their diversity" (VEE) was an inclusive project in the field of vocational education. The aim of the project was the implementation of three youth encounters, which aimed to promote interpersonal and job-related skills through international inclusive activities, with the following objectives: 1) Promotion of Vocational Qualifications: VEE specifically targeted disadvantaged and disabled young people, including deaf youth, young people with intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, as well as young people with learning difficulties and limited opportunities due to social, economic, cultural, and/or educational challenges. A primary goal of the project was to strengthen the vocational qualifications of these young individuals to improve their chances in the job market. 2) Promotion of Intercultural Competencies: The youth encounters provided participants with the opportunity to gain new experiences, acquire intercultural experiences, meet peers from other European countries, and collaborate with them in their professional practice. Working in international teams contributed to enhancing teamwork and intercultural competencies and promoted intercultural dialogue. 3) Promotion of Tolerance, Diversity, and Inclusion: VEE actively advocated for the promotion of tolerance, diversity, and inclusion. Young people with different backgrounds and abilities were encouraged to respect each other and collaborate as a team. This objective was particularly important as some partner countries of the project had a difficult shared history, such as Serbia-Croatia and Germany-Poland. 4) Linking Vocational Education to Societal Challenges: VEE connected vocational education with societal issues such as sustainability, global learning, and historical education. Young people were encouraged to actively engage with these topics and develop job-relevant skills in the context of current societal challenges. 5) Empowerment and Boosting Self-Confidence: For many participants, project participation was an opportunity to develop their personal skills, boost their self-confidence, and gain the feeling that they could influence their own life situation and make independent decisions. This was particularly empowering for young people affected by social marginalization. The project contributed to a more peaceful and inclusive future in Europe by bringing together young people from different countries and backgrounds and providing them with the opportunity to collaborate on relevant vocational and societal issues.
