Objectives

We aimed to facilitate cross-cultural and interreligious interactions between young people in the home country and abroad through our international youth encounters. They provided chances for learning, developing empathy, and participating in a world that is being transformed by globalization. We wished to combat racism and violence, promote global understanding, and reduce prejudice through understanding and education. Both inside and internationally, international youth work has an integrating influence. We select a primary subject every year, and this theme is represented in both our domestic and foreign activities. We covered the subject of "Spaces and involvement for children and young people" in 2021. This theme is based on European Youth Goal 9, "Spaces and Participation for All," as youth growth in terms of their personal, cultural, and political lives is promoted when they have access to their own spaces in their living environments. There were several degrees of analysis of the theme. At the state level, the emphasis was on democratic participation procedures and the possibilities for young people to get involved in politics. In this context, we talked about "Political Framing" and the subjects that currently receive attention and others that don't. The emphasis was on spaces that are accessible to children and young people at the societal level. Where are places where kids and teens can "take up or demand space"? And where can one find new spaces? We addressed what young people require on a personal level in order to speak up for themselves, others, and be taken seriously. It also involved learning to respect their own boundaries, to acknowledge their needs, and to take care of both their environment and oneself. This youth exchange between Germany and Tunisia focused on this important subject and, building on it, tackle European Youth Goal 10: "A sustainable, green Europe." Young people cannot assist create politics and society or act for climate protection unless they have opportunities to participate. Young people must be empowered to take an active part in bringing about change toward environmentally sound and sustainable development and must understand how their actions affect the environment. Because this problem transcends the boundaries of Europe, there must be a global conversation and consequently a global awareness (as in the Fridays for Future movement, for example). Our youth gathering aimed to make the participants, who are from Germany and Tunisia, aware of this. We concentrated on the distinctions and affinities between sustainability, environmental preservation, and collaboration with our Tunisian partner organization. Above all else, new idea development and best practice exchange was included in this. What inspires young people in Germany and Tunisia? What steps must be taken to ensure the future they want? What venues and chances for engagement are there for them? The program consisted of engaging classes, group project outings, and a cultural side program. The project's specific goals were as follows: - Critical, imaginative, and interactive examination of sustainability and environmental protection issues and how both countries approach them politically and socially - Raising awareness of the various methods of environmental protection, from the individual to the social and political level - Provide an understanding of the impact of individuals, social actors, and political actors on the environment and empowering young people to take action themselves - Spreading information about this subject to other young people. (Peer-to-peer) The project's overall goals were as follows: - Understanding how local youth association work or youth work is organized in our various structures and exchanging best practice examples are some of the goals of intercultural and interreligious engagement. - Enhancing young people's independence and confidence (via their involvement and active shaping of the initiative) - Giving participants access to soft talents that they can apply in their careers: Skills in the use of media (through the project's usage of social media), teamwork, time management, empathy, communication, and Communication and dispute resolution as well as the ability to give short talks in front of others and present results dispute resolution, as well as the capacity to deliver brief lectures in front of others and present results
