The project initiative came from the participants of a project in 2020, where the Turkish and German partners were attending together. We implemented the project in Turkey since the waste management system in Turkey is not well developed we felt the need to make a project for the youngsters so we can import some Know-how from others that have well-designed systems for waste management and they use raw materials that the society creates them as a waste to give life back to the thing we call waste and create a new product from it. Also by merging the creativity from the different societies, we wanted to make a stunning, view-changing sculpture that will impact society to change the way they see waste. With the project, we wanted to minimize wastage by encouraging youth to turn their unwanted items into useful and valuable goods. Workshops were conducted regularly for youth to pick up the art of Upcycling and turn their trash into treasure. The objectives of the project were; • Create a friendly, inspirational, creative space for sharing and learning. (getting to know each other, team building, rules and expectations, energizers and games throughout the project, Youthpass introduction) • Setting the ground for the topic of the project and introducing the importance of waste management and presenting the opportunities for self-employment (Introducing recycling, brainstorming group activity, Presentation of Upcycling, • Presenting free resources from the waste and startup opportunities) • Collecting the working materials through cleaning action at the location close to the city center of Eskihesir cleaning action, world coffee for sharing the ideas for the products and setting the ground for the development of the outcomes) • Teach participants about the differences between recycling and upcycling. • Opening the minds and starting the creative processes for developing the outcomes (workshops Art, Sculpture, Accessories, and Blog) • Sharing the outcomes and promoting the project and the Erasmus+ opportunities to the youngsters and the local community (Presentation at primary and high school and installation of the sculpture at the city center) Looking at the reports and the feedback we got from the participants we can conclude that the project was a success and a small step towards promoting European values, culture, and the art created from waste.
