The aim of this project, at the centre of which two youth encounters took place, was first and foremost for the participants to deal with issues of sustainability and intercultural learning using the topic of "tourism" as an example. In a second step, the participants received further methodological training so that they could pass on the knowledge gained in the first step to other young people. To this end, they were first taught the basics of non-formal learning and peer-to-peer education. Building on this, individual methods and ideas were developed by the participants and ultimately developed into five ninety-minute workshops, which have been conducted by the participants with young people, especially in school classes, since the beginning of 2023. With the help of basic information, background information, portraits and best practice examples, and supplemented by creative tasks, around 1,325 participants have now creatively and interactively explored the possibilities of a more sustainable and also more social way of life in 53 workshops, with a particular focus on the aspect of tourism. At the same time, during the youth exchanges and also during the workshops subsequently held with young people, the focus was on the extent to which a sustainable lifestyle can not only be a sacrifice, but also a personal gain, through different priorities in one's own life and also when travelling. The workshops are designed to motivate young people in an entertaining and interactive way to reflect on their own lifestyle using the example of travelling. Over the course of the project, educational teams consisting of the exchange participants were successfully formed in Hanover and Slovenia, who receive ongoing training (e.g. during the monthly Slovenian-German online meetings) and carry out the workshops with young people, primarily in schools. While the first joint youth exchange focussed on developing the workshops, a lot of time was taken during the second youth exchange to evaluate and further develop the workshops.
