Youth exchanges mean to be the activities where young people have the central role. We can and should play an increasing role in helping the people not only to understand the changes and current reality in our communities that are related to coexistence with people from culturally diverse backgrounds but also to shape their attitudes of being open for intercultural dialogue, curious, respectful, empathetic with people who are seemingly different. Our ERASMUS plus YEs' gives us a chance to work together with a very intense way to meet and break people's prejudices. In our project, we aimed and succeeded to achieve a strong involvement of young people from all stages and with all partners. We, the young people were involved in all the processes from the idea development, the partnership building, the application form submission and the project realization itself in a very active way. Our YE was conducted by young people and for young people. It is crucial to break the barriers between "us" and "them" so that our communities can live together peacefully and use diversity as a resource - not a dividing line. The aim and objectives of this Youth Exchange went together with the general goals of the youth part of the Erasmus+ program regarding improving the competencies and skills of young people: Positive interaction, cultural awareness, racial and ethnic tolerance with the help of new media. Furthermore, improve learning to learn, social and civic engagement and sense of initiative. We created connections between participants through self- peer assessment and critical reflection, conflict management on the YE and supporting teamwork and developing professional competencies. The basic idea of the YE was to connect and motivate young people with an international background to work together within a clear and structured platform towards a defined goal: Go create your own short videos together with regard to the topic of Active Citizenship. By the end of the project, we developed and produced ten short videos by the participants. Our YE project brought 30 young people per activity (total of 60) from Germany, Turkey, and Estonia together to develop their intercultural learning and dialogue competencies (knowledge, skills, attitudes) that would enable them to become effective multipliers of intercultural dialogue in their communities. Now we are more equipped to make a positive change in society and we are more respectful and empathetic towards people from different cultures.
