In this youth exchange, young people from Germany, Georgia, Spain, and Bosnia and Herzegovina came together to create short films on topics that were important to them. The project, "Videotopia!", specifically addressed the need for youth participation. We provided a space where each participant had the opportunity to express themselves and be heard by others. Our assumption was that all participants had the necessary artistic skills to tell their own stories. We supported them in finding meaningful content and forms for their stories rather than explaining the world of filmmaking to them. All content and formal decisions were made by the participants themselves, empowering them to recognize the value of their own voice. The project promoted several Erasmus+ key competencies, including: Cultural awareness and expression: Through the exchange of different stories and resulting video projects, participants were able to develop their social and cultural awareness. The project also promoted expressive skills through learning and practicing video production. Digital competence: Participants gained video production skills, including camera work, sound, and editing, enabling them to independently carry out future projects. Reflecting on the filmed content allowed for critical examination of the filmic means used. Entrepreneurial competence: Videotopia! encouraged participants to take responsibility for their own projects, both in terms of content and production. Participants made all important creative decisions and were responsible for planning and execution. This promoted the creativity and initiative necessary for entrepreneurship and helped participants recognize the value of taking action and implementing their own ideas.
