The need for the organization and implementation of this specific project was born through the exchange of the personal concerns and reflections of the members of Seize the Day, as young people coming from different cultures and environments, that there is a need to cultivate social skills that are not taught through formal education (e .eg empathy, social consciousness, teamwork) in order to cope with the needs of our modern society, which is going through a period of crisis of democratic values. It is a fact that dealing with issues such as financial hardship, trying to complete studies and struggling to secure a satisfactory standard of living is critical in a young person's life and therefore consumes a large part of their personal time. It is believed that young people have no interest in participating in socio-political life, they do not seek collective expression, without taking into account, however, the inability of modern society to mobilize to a greater extent and involve young people more actively in socio-political life. In addition, it is a fact that young people today are bombarded by a variety of information, often false or propaganda, are influenced by the socio-economic situation and in many cases, show signs of apathy, aggression and/or alienation, especially when they are minority groups (unemployed, immigrants, people from the LGBT+ community, people with special needs, etc.). However, the impact of the above attitudes is important both on a personal and social level. On a personal level, because of these, young people develop feelings of inactivity, marginalization and/or lack of ability to assert their desires. And on a social level, because the absence of a strong expression of the youth`s needs leads to the development of xenophobic, conventional and undemocratic elements (e.g. racist beliefs, discrimination, prejudices) which need critical thinking and mobilization to be faced. Bearing in mind that, although young people seem to have lost faith in the current policies and methods of governance, they are, nevertheless, characterized by vision, new ideas, passion for change, we proceeded with faith in the implementation of the specific program in order to cultivate in the youth, within the usage of art, how necessary their involvement in the socio-political life and to strengthen their belief that the increase of their participation in the socio-political life can bring social change. The goals we tried to achieve, through this particular youth exchange program, were the following: • to analyse the importance of the youth`s active participation in civil society, especially those belonging to vulnerable social groups, through art • to cultivate basic skills that will facilitate the active action and mobilization of young people in society, as well as their integration into the labour market. • to promote the intercultural dialogue for the joint exploration of ways and exchange of good practices to strengthen the mobilization of the youth regarding their claim for more active involvement in social events in various European countries. • to cultivate a mindset of active participation among young people and to activate a strong commitment to active participation in the improvement of democratic institutions. • to create and/or strengthen cooperative relationships between civil society organizations in different countries and pave the way for future joint projects
