The main objective of the project was to enhance young people’s knowledge around the topic of climate change. More specifically, the project aimed at using non-formal education activities in order to clarify various definitions and terms related to the subject, to help the young participants’ understanding of scientific articles, policy documents, initiative texts and improve their ability of expressing themselves on various aspects of the topic and hold debates around it. The terms of sustainability, renewable energy, climate change, green entrepreneurship, circular economy were only a few of the ones analyzed during the workshops, along with the examination of policies on a national and European level. Another project objective referred at the improvement and deepening of the young participants soft skills and specifically, regarding debate and holding campaigns to raise awareness not only for the main topic of the exchange, but also for other issues that interest and affect them. Moreover, the project aimed at combining the knowledge factor with the creativity of the young people in order to give them more incentives at active citizenship and participation by creating their own initiatives around the topic. What we succeeded to do was to gather 44 young Europeans from 6 EU Member states who built a strong relation and network between each other and also strong bonds with nature and climate. The young people, through their participation in the youth exchange, boosted their knowledge in subjects concerning the environment and climate change, and they had the chance to familiarize with terms such as sustainability, renewable energy, green social entrepreneurship etc. The participants also had the opportunity to know and understand policies and initiatives which are taken in national and European level. The project participants, were more aware and informed in their social groups, in the urging matters of the environment and climate change. Through their participation in the project, they participated in a series of interactive activities which encouraged them in following a more sustainable lifestyle. The participants, through the initiative enhanced their sense of active citizenship. New skills and abilities, such as working in groups, organisational skills etc and attributes such as respect in diversion, self-conscience and tolerance were developed. Last but not least, following the general Erasmus+ concept, the project aimed at broadening the young participants horizons regarding the multicultural nature of Europe, through intercultural evenings, and exchange of opinions and experiences from their own countries.
