The aim of "To be or not TV" is to promote critical thinking around the representation of women and the LGTBIQ+ collective in the media. Both the more traditional ones (TV and cinema) and their contemporary variables (social networks). More specifically, the goal is to reflect on their scarce and stereotyped representation in these media and to empower young people to subvert this trend. Therefore, through this project we do not only intend to work on critical thinking and social inclusion, but also for young people to generate their own, inclusive and equal content. This will be done through the remake of film scenes, television commercials, viral photographs of Instagramers and other stereotyped practices on the web using humour as a tool, which will highlight through irony and sarcasm the dangers of reproducing such content. In addition, we will share examples of good practices, in which young people do feel adequately represented, for the promotion of conscious and healthy media and social network consumption. The project aims to promote respect and social cohesion, fundamental rights, critical thinking, non-discrimination and communication skills. "To be or not TV" will highlight the value of diversity, reflecting on how this enriches our society. The specific objectives of the project are: - To develop critical thinking around the representation of different social groups (especially women and LGTBIQ+ people) in the traditional and contemporary media. - To reflect on how the media influences the perception of ourselves and other groups. - To explore the existing tools to identify stereotypical representations and thus not to keep reproducing them. - To create our own tools to detect stereotypes in the media. - To seek for collective empowerment of young people to be the changemakers, generating their own inclusive content. - To share examples of good practices of representation, which serve as a model to follow. - To acquire basic skills in video recording and editing (with mobile phones). - To promote a healthy use of social networks. - To use humour as a constructive tool that is critical but does not generate conflict or violence. - To promote teamwork, confrontation and debate in multicultural groups. - To offer an opportunity for intercultural learning through non-formal education. - To promote European values, the improvement of language skills and "soft skills". - To promote the Erasmus+ programme and international mobility opportunities.
