Objectives

The project "Arte es diversidad, diversidad es inclusión" took place in Malgrat De Mar from the 5th of September until the 11th of September. The main objective of this project was the inclusion of people with disabilities in the society. Art was used as a tool of work and expression. During the project, art provided a familiar and comfortable environment for young people with and without disabilities to express themselves and to promote personal and collective development, as it allowed them to go beyond barriers and difficulties of different conditions (physical, relational, communicative, etc.). The main objective of the project was to work on the social inclusion of people with disabilities through art, empowering young people to give voice and visibility to people with disabilities, thus favouring the full enjoyment of their rights and active participation in civic life. The specific objectives of the project have been developed as follows: 1- On a personal level the project has restored the self-esteem and confidence of the participants, developing their creative potential. 2- The following art forms have been explained as a tool for personal and collective re-valorisation, thus favouring social cohesion. 3- The different art forms have woven new ways of working in different public and private spheres, thus favouring new working and project links. The specific objectives of the project have achieved transversal objectives such as: 1- the improvement of young people's knowledge of Erasmus themes and the opportunities that the programme can provide, 2- the active use of the English language has helped many young people to feel free to express themselves and to express their opinions on the themes. 3- The week-long work has forged new relationships and new ways of working in groups, developing critical thinking and problem solving skills. 4- Last but not least, working on the issue of inclusion and disability, especially at first hand, has led to a breaking down of prejudices and a greater interest in working on the issue and defending people's rights.
