If the coronavirus crisis has had a huge impact on the labor market, the consequences have been even worse for those under 30 years of age. According to data from the Spanish Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, between March 12 and April 30, 2020, 330,000 jobs occupied by people under 30 years of age were destroyed. In addition, young people have received a double impact, and that is that temporary contracts (more common among those under 30 years of age) are the ones that were most destroyed between March and April. But the problem of youth unemployment is not new, Spain has had one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the European Union for years. According to current data, the unemployment rate for those under 25 is 41.7%. The data is also not encouraging in other countries such as those of our partners, registering very high youth unemployment data, Greece with 39.3%, Turkey with 27.0%, Latvia with 17.6% and Romania with a 17.4% respectively. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on other forms of employability with which to mitigate the high level of youth unemployment that we are currently experiencing. In the words of the former President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, "Social entrepreneurship can be, without a doubt, a very valuable program of change. Achieving better results for the common good, demonstrating that it is possible to act more responsibly and equitably, without ceasing to succeed in the market and become a true engine of growth in the EU. Europe must not only take part in these changes, Europe must lead them." Currently the social economy in the European Union represents 10% of the economy in Europe (GDP), employing more than 11 million workers (4.5% of the active population in the European Union), percentages that, although they have grown considerably in recent years, are still well below expectations. The main objective of social enterprises is to generate a significant impact on society, the environment and the local community. By responding to unmet needs through social innovation, social enterprises are part of smart growth. By taking into account their environmental impact and through their long-term vision, they generate sustainable growth. For example, social enterprises frequently develop efficient solutions to reduce emissions and waste or optimize natural resources. Furthermore, with a strong focus on people and social cohesion, social enterprises are at the core of inclusive growth: they create sustainable jobs for women, youth and the elderly. In other words, its main raison to organize social and economic transformations that contribute to the objectives of the EU Agenda 2030, as well as the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The European Cohope Experience program has sought to promote professional and personal growth so that, through social and strategic innovation, both the person and the project rise to the next level and form part of the transformation towards a more empathetic and sustainable world. The program has been adapted to the reality and idiosyncrasy of the participants and the environment where it is carried out, focusing on active, collaborative learning and always on real experiences. The activities have been designed for people who have a seed state idea of social entrepreneurship but still need to acquire tools and methodologies to create their own business model. For this reason, they have been supported (and continue to be) through activities such as individual and group mentoring, workshops, masterclasses and events, with the aim of developing the organizations of tomorrow, in a conscious and collaborative manner. The main objectives of the European Cohope Experience were, on the one hand, to integrate different knowledge agents and sectors to use social entrepreneurship as a driver of change and evolution towards an empowered society, while providing tools and methodologies that stimulate the creation and development of projects from a sustainable point of view at an economic, environmental and emotional level.
