The youth exchange project "EqualArt for Inclusion" emerged as the second experience of one of the largest projects we have developed, EqualART, in which young artists from different countries come together to create a melody, a song and record it in a studio, with the objective of raising awareness about gender equality and sexual diversity, creating the theme "My life and Liberty". Since this project carried out 5 years ago was a success, we decided to do this second part with some variations: this time we would focus on the inclusion of people with functional diversity, again through music. The consequences of isolation in people with disabilities during the years of total or partial confinement have been serious (post-traumatic stress, anxiety, decline in skills for autonomy and independence, lack of control of frustration and aggressiveness, loss of routines, sedentary lifestyle and depression) and they would have been devastating if we hadn't been able to rely on culture and creativity. To develop this project, we start from the need to facilitate the inclusion of people with functional diversity from rural areas, who face double discrimination, due to their different abilities and because they live in small towns with fewer resources and communication difficulties. With EqualArt for Inclusion we have valued creative processes as a way of expressing our emotions and making our realities known through an area that has a great impact on the young population, such as music. The specific objectives of the project have been: -Promote the inclusion of young people with functional diversity in youth and mobility projects. -Promote creativity, and especially music and body expression, as a way of working on social inclusion and the development of key skills of young people with functional diversity. Value the therapeutic power of music and creativity by developing inclusive art therapy tools. -Promote the normalization of functional diversity in young people, working on reflective capacity and breaking stereotypes about people with functional diversity. -Create artistic and musical content with a message of inclusion. In this case, the result of this objective has been the creation of a song composed and performed by the participants about the inclusion of people with diverse abilities, called “One in a million”. -Encourage the active participation of youth and their role in fighting discrimination based on any difference. -Develop skills among young people (such as language skills, social and civic skills, creativity, social entrepreneurship and digital skills) that can then be used to promote the inclusion of young people with functional diversity and encourage active youth participation and volunteering. -Develop skills related to music: improvisation, composition, rhythm, harmonies, etc. -Work of emotion management through music. -How to make music more inclusive. These objectives coincide with those of E+ since they have responded to the "challenges" of "equity and inclusion", contributing to a "more cohesive and inclusive" Europe, which allows citizens to "play an active role in democratic life" and this through youth work to promote the social integration of people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds or with fewer opportunities. In addition, KA1 seeks to improve skills and competencies, including those with fewer opportunities, promoting active citizenship, inclusion and solidarity, values and objectives, all of which are fully present in EqualART For Inclusion, a project in which more than 30 young people from 4 countries have worked on our ability to change the lives of other young people through our actions, through our creativity and music, promoting social inclusion and the participation of people with functional diversity in youth projects and of European mobility in an inclusive and creative way.
