The project focuses in mobility and capacity of development of workers in the field of youth and will work specifically on issues related to rural tourism and development of rural areas through the promotion of cicle tourism routes. After the serious blow suffered by the emergency caused by the Corona virus, the tourism sector must adopt new development and survival strategies. International reports show that the new tourism challenge will have to be played at national level, with domestic tourism, in the most decongested rural areas. A road that, at the same time, addresses the damage caused by mass tourism, that has affected seaside resorts and congested cities of art. Experiential tourism will be the real key resource to respond to the crisis and offer cultural and economic development opportunities to many rural areas with enormous potential, but not guided by tour operators, who historically have preferred mass tourism. This type of tourism, more qualitative than quantitative, allows to respond more easily to the provisions on safety, reception in the open air and social distance that the new protocols for COVID-19 will impose in the near future. Investing in this development would also make it possible to guarantee new job opportunities to young people living in marginal, rural and disadvantaged areas, albeit with great attractive potential. The Municipality of Lorcha, is affected by a serious problem of depopulation, but at the same time is part of a it is part of an area with great touristic potential and already included in cycle route circuits that attract tourists from all over the world. Its administrators are aware that new input are needed to support companies and rural municipalities in the management of new economic and social dynamics, to rethink the tourist offer in total safety, focusing mainly on rural, sustainable and qualified tourism, taking the opportunity also to develop rural and peripheral areas, afflicted by the aging population, depopulation, low dynamism economic and declining social structures. It is precisely for this combination of factors that it is urgent and important to intervene on the enhancement of local resources, starting from the training of new professional skills and the spread of a new mentality among young people. The lead partner plans an Erasmus+ KA105 project based on worker mobility in the fields of youth, rural hospitality, cycle and experiential tourism, to share skills, good practices, guidelines and innovative ideas between EU involved partners with a strong tradition of experiential rural tourism in the areas of production of typical products. Furthermore, it will help unemployed young people in rural areas to promote a professional opportunity through sustainable rural tourism, strongly re-evaluating their sense of belonging and their roots in their place of origin, contrasting the current depopulation of rural areas. For 10 days, the Municipality of Lorcha will become the “Workshop on cycle tourism development of rural areas” headquarter at European level.
