Objectives

One of the most important tools for social change and education is youth participation, one of its most important representatives being youth associations. Youth associations and non-formal education provide different tools and skills to participants, which are increasingly recognised. The report of an expert group on "Developing young people's creative and innovative potential through non-formal learning in ways that are relevant to employability" (2014), highlights the need for both educators and employers to value non-formal learning. The study "Working with young people: the value of youth work in the European Union" (2014) confirms the impact of socio-educational youth work in areas such as entrepreneurship and culture. For all this, the SPAEN project (Recognising participation through entrepreneurship) had from the beginning the mission to analyse, value and recognise the skills and tools that associationism and active participation provide to young people, and how these can help to access successful entrepreneurship and quality job opportunities. This is a mobility project for young people and youth professionals, in which values such as respect, democracy or equality, as defended in Article 2 of the EU Treaty, have been working in a transversal way and through non-formal education. The objectives of the SPAEN project were as follows: -To combat the precarious employment situation and the risk of poverty of the young European population through the promotion of associations and entrepreneurship. To provide young people with tools and skills that are transmitted through non-formal education and associations, in order to improve their future prospects in the face of a potential post-Covid crisis. -To promote youth associations as a mechanism for participation in society and personal and professional growth. To create a long-term collaborative network of international youth organisations in the field of recognition of non-formal learning and partnership in the workplace. -To facilitate opportunities for young people at risk of exclusion, bringing them closer to associations and entrepreneurship as tools for accessing the labour market.
